Last year, we witnessed a resurgence of vibrancy and real-life interactions worldwide. We encountered countless moments where people regained their smiles. However, we also experienced various challenges such as rising prices and labor shortages. And so, uncertainty still looms today. As social and economic activities gradually return to normal, it will be crucial for us to swiftly recover what we lost due to the pandemic and propel ourselves onto a strong growth trajectory once again.
In 2023, with the winding down of the pandemic, we launched our medium-term strategy, "SHIFT 2025 and Beyond," as a year of shifting from defense to offense aiming to "Be a Global Winner with Our Heritage.” To realize our vision of becoming a "Personal Beauty Wellness Company" by 2030, we will further expand our skin beauty business and provide new value to our consumers through the integration of beauty and wellness. Also, built on our company’s philosophy of PEOPLE FIRST, we opened our Shiseido Future University, a facility that will nurture the next generation of Shiseido leaders, in Ginza Tokyo, where our company was founded. Our goal is to develop global leaders with diverse perspectives and expertise who will lead our long-term business growth and transformation.
Under our corporate mission, BEAUTY INNOVATIONS FOR A BETTER WORLD, our employees around the world will further unite this year to provide products and services through our core business to bring smiles to our customers, shareholders, and all stakeholders worldwide.
