Joint research: Long-term Research with CBRC, a World-class Laboratory in the Area of Skin Science

The CBRC was founded in 1989 and is known as a world-class laboratory in the field of dermatology. Shiseido has been collaborating for 30 years with the CBRC as a pioneer of open innovation pursuing unprecedented research collaboration with external organizations both nationally and internationally. Many of the cutting-edge research results are utilized in our product research and development.

Examples of Joint Research Results:
Shiseido Clarifies Underlying Mechanism of Age-Related Changes in Skin Immunity

We clarified an underlying mechanism by which epidermal Langerhans cells in the skin reduce with age, which was previously unelucidated. With these study results, it is expected that new technology will be developed to prevent age-related decrease of Langerhans cells and enhance the vitality of the skin to boost the innate power of the skin.

Collaboration: Shiseido’s Open Innovation Program fibona Launches in China

Under the themes of medical beauty technology and holistic beauty technology, we have called for participation of Chinese startups in collaboration with Plug and Play China^*1, which has a proven track record in corporate open innovation and startup accelerator.
