Arinobu Fukuhara founded Shiseido in 1872 as Japan's first private Western-style pharmacy based on his will to provide high-quality medicine so that people could lead healthy lives. Following this, Shinzo Fukuhara launched a full-scale cosmetics business, which became the foundation of Shiseido’s global cosmetic business today.

Arinobu strived for a better world through medicine. Shinzo aimed to enrich people’s lives through beauty.

Shiseido was founded on the dream of bringing health, beauty, and happiness to people and on innovations to make the dream come true. The dreams of Arinobu and Shinzo Fukuhara have been passed down through the years to Shiseido today.
