Review of 2018

We actively carried out marketing investment for advertising at airports and other promotions. As a result, we realized continued solid growth for SHISEIDO, Clé de Peau Beauté, NARS, and ANESSA, primarily in Asia. With the aim of accelerating growth, we actively promoted marketing investment, introduced new brands, and worked to improve our retail excellence capabilities. In addition, we strengthened our relationships with major operators of duty-free stores around the world.

Future Market Landscape

By area, we expect Asia to lead robust growth due to an increase in the number of travelers, resulting in further market expansion. With regard to category, we expect makeup to record the highest growth.

Key Strategies

We view the Travel Retail Business as one of our most important businesses. In this business, we are working to further strengthen our position in the global prestige market.

Specifically, in addition to core brands SHISEIDO and Clé de Peau Beauté, we will develop other brands such as IPSA, NARS, and LAURA MERCIER. We will also strengthen the opening of stores to respond to the increase in demand. Through digital communication, we will reinforce marketing geared toward travelers. We will also establish partnerships with major operators and enhance our retail excellence capabilities. In these ways, we will aim for further growth.
