World Vitiligo Day: June 25
World Vitiligo Day is an awareness day that aims to deepen understanding of the prejudice and emotional burden faced by people with vitiligo. Vitiligo is a condition in which loss of pigment causes areas of the skin to become white. It can affect anyone, regardless of gender or age, and treatment options include topical therapies and phototherapy. While symptoms and progression vary from person to person, changes in appearance may become a source of psychological burden and affect quality of life.
Development of Foundation for Vitiligo Coverage
In 2006, Shiseido launched its first foundation for vitiligo coverage. While conventional makeup products for vitiligo offered high coverage, they also presented challenges such as a heavy finish and color transfer to clothing. To address these issues, Shiseido developed a product incorporating optical technology that reproduces melanin tones, along with a film-forming agent that helps prevent transfer onto clothing.
In 2025, the product was renewed as Perfect Cover Foundation VC n. It recreates the look of melanin tones for effective coverage of vitiligo, with a fresh, lightweight feel and resistance to water, perspiration, and sebum.

The Spirit Behind Shiseido’s Original World Vitiligo Day Awareness Logo
Featuring overlapping hands, the logo represents people with vitiligo from diverse backgrounds joining hands in solidarity. Going forward, Shiseido will use the logo in awareness-raising activities, including seminars and events hosted by the company, to help promote greater understanding of vitiligo.
Collaboration with Dermatologists and Vitiligo Organizations
Since 1992, Shiseido has worked with medical institutions to help improve quality of life for people with deep skin concerns and people living with cancer by collecting evidence and creating more opportunities to connect with people who may benefit from support. In 2006, Shiseido began exhibiting at medical conferences for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Today, the company continues to provide information on how makeup can help improve quality of life for people with vitiligo.
In March 2025, Shiseido EMEA in France began Shiseido Life Quality Makeup activities and launched Perfect Cover Foundation VC n. As part of its collaboration with support organizations, Shiseido EMEA introduced the product at a workshop hosted by the French Vitiligo Association in June 2025, where participants had the opportunity to try it. Shiseido EMEA has also donated 130 product sets to people with vitiligo through the association.
In Japan, Shiseido will exhibit for the first time at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vitiligo in September 2026, expanding its engagement with healthcare professionals and researchers in the field of vitiligo.
