Shiseido Joins The Global Initiative “RE100” Aiming 100% Renewable Electricity*

Shiseido has joined RE100*, the global initiative that brings businesses together who are committed to shift to 100% renewable electricity in their business activities. We are committed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2026 as part of our vision to realize a decarbonized society. We believe that the use of renewable electricity is essential to achieve this commitment, and by joining RE100, we will further accelerate the use of renewable electricity in our global business activities.

Shiseido established Reducing Our Environmental Footprint, Developing Sustainable Products, and Promoting Sustainable and Responsible Procurement as the three strategic actions for solving environmental issues. The company is promoting efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and to use sustainable resources with the various stakeholders throughout the entire value chain.
For Reducing Our Environmental Footprint, Shiseido reviewed and is redesigning the manufacturing process at both new and existing factories, and is promoting actions to reduce CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions by introducing high-efficiency equipment, switching to energy sources with a lower environmental impact and using renewable energy. Particularly with renewable energy, the company is placing extra focus on switching to renewable energy sources globally, in addition to prioritizing hydropower in its factories in Japan and installing solar power systems in the buildings and premises of its factories and laboratories in Japan and overseas.

Driven by its corporate mission, BEAUTY INNOVATIONS FOR A BETTER WORLD, Shiseido will pursue the creation of a sustainable world where people sustainably enjoy beauty and happiness.

*RE100 (100% Renewable Electricity*) is a global initiative bringing together the world's most influential companies committed to 100% renewable electricity. Led by the Climate Group and in partnership with CDP, their mission is to accelerate change towards zero carbon grids on an international scale.
