  Based on scientific foundations developed through tireless research into the root causes of sagging, Shiseido has developed new techniques for addressing the causes of sagging. We will introduce you to the symbolic actions from these techniques through our “tarumi” exercises.

  Focus Area 1: “Anchor” Structure That Supports Facial Forms

  The “Anchor ” structure supports facial contours and forms via expressive muscles within the skin.
  Therefore, it is important to exercise one’s expressive muscles thoroughly. (Carry out this exercise after applying cream, beauty essence and/or other face products.)

  Exercise Instructions

  

  1. Forcefully suck your cheeks inward and maintain an exaggerated pouting pose for 10 seconds

  

  2. Pull the corners of your mouth firmly outward and maintain an exaggerated smiling pose for 10 seconds

  

  3. Pull your lips toward the left side of your face to stretch your right cheek tightly, hold for 10 seconds, then repeat on the opposite side

  

  4. Keeping your face facing upward, purse your lips and push upwards, holding for 10 seconds.

  Focus Area 2: Dermal Cell Network That Serves as a Source of Skin Firmness

  Our research has revealed that application of the right amount of pressure atop the skin can activate the cells that are the source of fibroblasts. It’s important to apply a suitable level of pressure when massaging the skin, and to use an upward lifting motion as you do so. (Carry out this exercise after applying cream, beauty essence and/or other face products.)

  1. Massage in a circular motion under the cheekbones, applying pressure vertically toward the inside of the skin.

  2. 3. Apply pressure aimed toward the cheekbones while lifting the cheeks upward, doing so separately for both locations pictured.

  4. From the inner corner of the eyes toward the temple, use three fingers to pull it up along the bone under the eyes while applying pressure.

  The “Dynamic Belt” is a mechanism that provide support to counteract the effects of gravitational forces. The following exercise is a means of stretching oriented in the same direction as the Dynamic Belt’s directional alignment. It is expected to strengthen the Dynamic Belt—which weaken with age—and improve sagging skin. (Carry out this exercise after applying cream, beauty essence and/or other face products.)

  

  Stretching in accordance with the directional alignment of the Dynamic Belt, which comprises arrector pili muscles, activates said muscles

  New Discoveries Through Plant Extracts

  

  Based on the Anti-Gravity Science V, Shiseido research has uncovered ingredients that address each skin structure of causal factors for sagging. Utilization of these ingredients together with prescribed techniques are expected to improve sagging skin.

  For the “Anchor” Structure 
  Which Supports Facial Forms

  

  Research has revealed that extract from the plant species Glycyrrhiza, commonly known as licorice and often used as an herbal medicine, has potential to strengthen the face’s Anchor Structure.

  

  In addition, extract from Sanguisorba officinalis (great burnet), a member of the Rosaceae (rose) family that is common in Europe and East Asia, was found to potentially enhance the functions of muscle cells in expressive muscles within the face.

  For Dermal Cavitation 
  Which Reduces Skin Firmness

  

  Extract from the shrub Salvia rosmarinus—commonly known as rosemary and a member of the Lamiaceae family—can be expected to improve upon problems with hollowing out of the dermis.

  Research shows that the extract of iris, which belongs to the Iridaceae family, has the potential to support the recovery of the Dermal Cell Network.

  For the Dynamic Belt

  We have verified that extract from the plant species Glycyrrhiza, commonly known as licorice and often used as an herbal medicine (pictured above), and raspberry-derived plant extract (pictured below), activate the cells within the arrector pili muscles (hair erector muscles) which make up the Dynamic Belt.
