Message in Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary

Appearance can play an important role in how we express identity and feel confident. The Phantom of the Opera is, in many ways, a story that portrays the sorrow tied to one’s appearance.

In 1956, Shiseido launched Spots Cover, Japan’s first product developed for deep skin concerns. In 2008, Shiseido again took the lead by extending support to people living with cancer. Even when cancer is treated, appearance changes from treatment may hinder their return to daily life and community. Shiseido has been at the forefront—developing specialized products and offering seminars. I would like to express my deep respect for these efforts, which help people regain confidence and engage with society again.

Staying True to Yourself When It Counts

For more than 70 years, Shiseido has worked to advance appearance care that medical professionals consider essential, and I would like to express my respect for this longstanding commitment. I have seen how these efforts offer meaningful psychological support to people with conditions such as cleft lip and palate, or vascular tumors.

Whether to wear makeup or embrace a natural look is a personal decision, but having this choice provides confidence and reassurance. Conversations with beauty specialists during a session also create a valuable space to share concerns that may be difficult to discuss even with family, making makeup a tool for emotional expression and communication.

I believe makeup can be a meaningful source of psychological support, helping people live in a way that feels true to themselves.

With Gratitude for the Legacy You Have Created

Congratulations on your 70th anniversary—and thank you. Shiseido’s message of supporting people who rely on the power of beauty—offering makeup as a way to “cover” while also helping the heart “open”—gives us an empowering choice to feel like ourselves.

In the past, Shiseido joined us at our events by showcasing makeup products, creating hands-on experiences, and welcoming us into your beautiful Shiodome office to host makeup sessions and medical lectures.

I am deeply grateful for the 70 years of dedication and compassion that have shaped this history, as well as for your ongoing support. Wishing you continued growth and success in the years ahead.

Inspiring Hope Through Appearance Care

As a specialist in chemotherapy, I focus on survivorship care for people with breast cancer. Many struggle with a decline in quality of life due to visible changes such as hair loss and changes in the skin. In my practice, I have seen many patients regain their confidence and smiles through makeup and appearance care. Those with metastatic cancer, in particular, often lose the motivation for grooming, but introducing appearance care can spark renewed hope.

A joint study with Shiseido showed that online appearance care consultations improved subjective satisfaction, reduced negative emotions, and increased self-efficacy. It is my sincere wish to continue improving the quality of life for people living with cancer.

Staying Connected Through Appearance Care

Congratulations on the 70th anniversary of Shiseido Life Quality Makeup.

Many people living with cancer continue to experience distress from changes in appearance even after treatment. In this context, makeup advice is more than applying cosmetics—it is time set aside to care for their appearance, respect the way they wish to be seen, and support their connection with society.

Since hosting your first makeup advice seminar at our hospital in 2015, this collaboration now marks its tenth year. Thanks to Shiseido’s work in this field, the support we can offer has grown even more meaningful.

I am deeply grateful for your many contributions and wish you continued success.

Beauty Graces Life with Radiance

On this joyous occasion of the 70th anniversary of Shiseido Life Quality Makeup, we extend our deepest blessings and sincerest gratitude to you.

The public benefit makeup program you initiated has brought breast cancer patients far more than color and technique; it has restored their confidence and rekindled their inner spark.

As foundation gently conceals the traces of treatment and blush recalls long-lost smiles, we witness how beauty mends the spirit and embraces life.

Seventy years of craftsmanship have evolved into the warmth we feel today; seventy years of commitment have transformed into a radiance that illuminates the soul. May this beauty and warmth continue to flow and blossom in the years to come, bringing light to every corner where it is needed.

Beauty Starts with Self-Esteem

It is an honor to collaborate with Shiseido, with whom I share a common goal of restoring self-confidence and self-love to patients suffering from vitiligo. Having also been affected by vitiligo, I have been an active member and then leading the French Association of Vitiligo for over 30 years, fighting to raise awareness about this condition and helping patients live better with their vitiligo.

Every day, I listen to patients, their concerns, and their needs, and Shiseido has given these people a lot of hope by offering expert products to help them better navigate society and proudly with their appearance.

Indeed, I have received so many positive comments from volunteers and patients such as, “After 40 years, I feel like I can finally be myself,” and “Thank you for restoring our confidence.” This collaboration resonates in harmony for the benefit of others, and I hope that in the future we will be able to support even more patients around the world together.

Thank You, Shiseido: For Giving Us the Power of Beauty

Taiwan Breast Cancer Alliance has been honored to work with Shiseido for many years. We are truly grateful for Shiseido’s continuous support, offering professional guidance and care to help cancer survivors through some of the hardest times in their lives.

Having had cancer at 39 and facing a recurrence years later, I know that appearance care is not just about looks—it is about regaining dignity, confidence, and a sense of self. Seeing yourself clearly in the mirror again can give you the strength to keep going.
As a volunteer and Chairman of the Taiwan Breast Cancer Alliance, I am lucky to be able to give back the support I once received. This cycle of care shows the lasting difference Shiseido makes—not only with practical help, but also with emotional support and genuine compassion.

With heartfelt gratitude, we celebrate 70 years of Shiseido Life Quality Makeup’s dedication to beauty and humanity. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Shiseido to support and help even more people in the years ahead.
